My favorites for week 47, 2010

Big GrinSomething to laugh: my favorite comic strip of the weekabout Thanksgiving Day

“Turkey Day” has come ( more about that further down below in the “blog” section … ) and thus it is time for those turkeys who wanna survive to think about some creative tactics. Like the one here shown in “Moderately Confused”.

NerdSomething to watch: my favorite video clip of the weekabout the job of a goal keeper

If you are somewhat familiar with Fussball ( soccer ) you know: the job of the goal keeper is to keep his goal clean. That doesn’t necessarily have to stop him from trying to ensure that the goal keeper of the other team has a difficult time to do so, as seen in “Goalkeeper Scores Across-the-Field Goal – CollegeHumor video”.

Cool Something to discover: my favorite bookmark of the weekabout Worldometers
Worldometers – real time world statistics is a nice web site where you can watch important metrics of our planet changing real time, like: current world population, births and deaths, cars produced, e-mails sent ( wow! ), blog posts today ( well, not bad ), forest loss, CO2 emissions, current average temperature ( wanna guess first ? ), tons of produced food this year, water consumed, oil pumped today and oil left. Very interesting to see these numbers changing real time !

ApplauseSomething to learn: my favorite tip of the weekabout searching in Lotus Notes

You certainly knew already that you can search through your entire Lotus Notes 8.5 Mail Database by typing a search term into the search box in the upper right corner of the Lotus Notes windows and hit ENTER. May be – like me – you have overlooked the option to search the particular folder you are currently working with: this folder is listed in the drop down list coming with this search box and thus allows you to narrow down your search to the current folder ( “EWeek 2010” it is in my example here ).

Something to enjoy: my favorite photo  on flickr under a Common Creative licenseabout a pond and a chipmunk

Lets’s look at two nice photos this week from Trey Ratcliff aka Stuck in Customs and Eric Bégin: “The Pond and the Sunset Stormclouds” and “Eastern chipmunk / Tamia rayé”.
