My favorites for week 18, 2010

Big GrinSomething to laugh: my favorite comic strip of the weekabout controlling employee payroll expenses

This nasty Dilbert describes one way how companies can keep employee payroll expenses “under control”. Funny ? No. Next time your boss presents you a list of negative feedback sorted alphabetically you might want to ask him where he got this from Wink.

NerdSomething to watch: my favorite video clip of the weekabout a car chase seen from a satellite

Nicely done with Google Earth apparently. Somehow reminds me of the video game “Grand Theft Auto”: “Satellite Car Chase”.

Something to enjoy: my favorite photo  on flickr under a Common Creative licenseabout Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the night lights of Paris

Petronas Towers. Duh.
"Petronas Towers. Duh." by Hynek S..
Night Lights
"Night Lights" by loic.photo.

Large cities with huge buildings provide enough opportunities for good shots, as nicely demonstrated through the two photos featured here today.

Night Lights” by Loïc KERVAGORET is taken in Paris, an interesting close-up with symmetric features, lights, and mirroring effects.

You need a special lens to take a shot like this one from a tall building like the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, when you are close by and want to capture it entirely. So done by Hynek Schlawack. Good shot !

Something to talk about: my favorite quote of the weekabout human civilization

The end of the human race will be that it will eventually die of civilization.

That could very well be the case sooner or later. May be some time in the future we have reached the point where we have made that planet that smart that it decides it can better survive without us.
