My favorites for week 15, 2010

Big GrinSomething to laugh: my favorite comic strip of the weekabout civilizations

Good question ! I guess “being civilized” might have a different meaning depending on what civilization you are looking at. In that sense it probably has no meaning at all.

Surprise Something to surprise: my favorite "I really didn’t know this" of the weekabout google

Did you know that

  • it is estimated that google owns more than 1 million server,
  • that is 2 % of all server on the world ?

Something to enjoy: my favorite photo  on flickr under a Common Creative licenseabout bubbles

Why not taking photos of bubbles, those colorful, delicate, beautiful, short living objects – easy to create, shining in all colors, providing a transparency effect Windows developer would be proud of, hovering over our heads for a few seconds, then gone forever …

Nice idea,  longhairedgit !

Something to talk about: my favorite quote of the weekabout bridges

The hardest thing to learn in life is which bridge to cross and which to burn.

Viewing life as a permanent island hopping is a nice analogy to my mind. Every bridge you take is a decision you make during your life which gets you to another island. Sometimes you can go back, but often you can’t. Sometimes you want to tear down bridges to feel safer. Your entire life is a series of decisions you make, your journey through your life the result of those decisions. And often you have to take a bridge without knowing how the island where it takes you will look like.
