September 18th (Day 15): Seattle
|View of Seattle skyline and Elliot Bay from Space Needle|
It was raining in the morning and the weather forecast was not too good. Instead of travelling to Mount Rainier National Park we decided to drive north into Seattle. Sunshine awaited us there and after finding a room in a motel in the 5th avenue close to downtown and also in walking distance to Seattle Center we started our exploration of Seattle by walking to Seattle Center and taking an elevator ride on top of Space Needle providing an excellent view on downtown Seattle skyline, Lake Union and Elliot Bay. We have been surrounded by clouds while sun was shining in Seattle and could not spot Mount Rainier, but we could see some of the mountains on the Olympic peninsula.
After this we continued our hike through entire Seattle: along the piers, into downtown, to Pioneer Square and up to Chinatown. Our feet did hurt when we came back to our motel but after some rest we found new energy to walk again down to the piers and have some fish dinner in The Fishermans Restaurant.
